Marcus knew from an early age he was meant to be a filmmaker. Growing up in a sleepy suburb of Gothenburg, he wanted nothing more than to direct images and make them move. He graduated in film and direction from Gothenburg University in 2007 and immediately set forth to make his dreams come true. That same year, Marcus was awarded a Kodak Cinematography award and quickly built up a respectful array of awards and nominations: 4 Swedish Grammy nominations and he became a Pitchfork darling with his video for CEO Come With Me being named Pitchfork’s Best Video of 2010.
He went on to work with acts like The XX, Miike Snow and Fibes Oh Fibes, injecting his own brand of emotion into anything he directs. Apart from making great music videos, he has also directed beautiful and thoughtful commercials for McLaren, Volvo, BBC and Canon.
Marcus’ films are calm and serene, yet still incredibly focused and devoid of useless clutter. Marcus has a unique style of filmmaking that makes an impact, not by being the loudest, but, instead, drawing the audience in with resonance and emotion.
